Dream-A-Turtle-Project (DATP)

The DATP  focuses on teaching humane education to bi-national groups of school-age children (Mexican-American and Mexican) by working with and advocating for sea turtle conservation.

This will be accomplished by the use of:

  • Technical media communication (e.g., the Internet/intercambio)
  • Expressive arts, language arts, math, and science activities
  • Community education and outreach
It is our hope to begin this program with the Watsonville Charter School for the Arts in Watsonville, CA and secondary schools in San Pancho, Mexico, home of the Olive Ridley sea turtle.
school%20and%20kids.JPGThe goal is to expand to other locations, such as Guatemala, which provide nesting habitat for sea turtles.  We will be involved in organizing on-line education and communication, shared curriculum and art work, as well as participating in beach clean-up and community projects emphasizing our interconnectedness between cultures and our seas.
